Discover Toronto on a Budget

The Greater Toronto Area is the biggest metropolitan in Canada. With a population of 6 million people, and over 140 languages spoken, in my opinion, Toronto is the place to be. But it can also be a little overwhelming to explore such a big city on a budget. Here are my Top 5 list of things you can do and places you can explore without breaking the bank!

Toronto Islands

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city! You don’t have to venture far if you are looking for a day at the beach. Simply take the ferry and in minutes you will be transported to a beautiful island. You can have a nice picnic, BBQ, or even play a volleyball game by the beach.

Everything you need to know about planning your next trip to the Toronto Islands can be found here.

ROMwalks

The Royal Ontario Museum hosts weekly guided walking tours across the city. Get a little exercise as you explore various neighbourhoods in Toronto and learn about the history and architecture the city has to offer. Theses guided tours take place from May to mid-October. In 2016, 36 walks will be free and will take you around 9 different neighbourhoods. All you have to do is find the walk that interests you, meet at the designated location, and look for the purple umbrella! Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes.

Scarborough Museum

Located just east of Toronto, Scarborough is a city that must be explored. Any type of cuisine you might be looking for, you can be sure to find it in Scarborough! But their culinary richness isn’t the only thing that makes this city a great place to visit. There is also a lot of history to be discovered. Hidden within the Thomson Memorial Park you can find the Scarborough Museum. You can learn about the history of the city as well as take in incredible exhibits. Admission is optional, you pay what you can.

Visit the largest park in the city. The park features a zoo, playgrounds, picnic areas, hiking trails, and much more. A guaranteed day of fun for everyone in the family. Take a stroll on Grenadier Pond or visit the beautiful Japanese Cherry trees. Bring along your furry best friend and take them to the dog park so they can also enjoy the day. A natural gem in the city, the park can easily be accessed by TTC or by car.

Here is everything you need to know for your next visit.
